I recently bought a JVC xl-R5000bk audio CD burner with a 3 CD changer and built-in burner capable of 2x burning. The unit has optical ins/outs. I bought it to make compilations, and to do quick cd copies of my record collection. Can I use this to burn cd's from any of the recorders discussed in this forum? It would be great to get double duty, if possible. I understand the Roland vsr 880 can record in audio cd format. Might it work?

If you send the optical digital out (if the unit has it, if not the anolog outs) of the recorder to the CD burner, and set it to record at 1x (from the inputs yu plug the recorder into), it should work.

Can you do the same with a portastudio (424 MKIII)?
If the burner specs dig and analog inputs and outputs.

I use this method for quickie compilations straight out of Cakewalk. I compose a .set file, set a 4 second delay after each tune, set the external CD burner to auto-increment tracks and let her rip!
