I'm looking for a decently priced say $250 or less 2 channel card that will do 96k and works well with cubase. This would be for my home computer so I can bring material home with me and work. Any one have any suggestions based on something they've used?

Thanks!

Tim thanks, I completly forgot about the Echo products! I used a layla years ago that I borrowed from a friend. I remember it sounding pretty good back then but never got much into recording at the time as the band I was in feel apart.....

Your name suggests you're a drummer, do you want to record an acoustic kit with this setup?

No it's really just for home use so I can mix/edit at home. We have a small studio that myself and a few other bands share with 32 channels of motu, so all of my tracking is done their. It's just hard to work around everyone's schedule and have been thinking if I could atleast do a little work at home editing what not, it would be a big help. All I've really used is the Motu stuff and an echo layla. I'm just not overly framiliar with other cards aside from the info in the latest mail order catalog of choice, but to me user experience/opinions (good ones) usually hold a little more weight with me, then the manufacturers own write up about how great their product is. So I'm really not looking for the fanciest thing out there just something that does 96k and sounds decent and has reliable drivers for it.

Oh and as the name implies I do play drums if you want to call it that, not sure what I am worse at recording or playing drums, but I'm sure they are neck and neck!

Sounds like you're well on your way. I'm right there with ya on the learning stuff.
Was going to warn that drummers (with DAWs & guitarist friends) outgrow mic inputs particularly fast.

Your not kdding about running out of inputs fast! After this last experiment I'm thinking I need to cut back to a 4 piece kit!!
