Hey guys,
Does anyone have any experince or sucess in using this stuff . . .?

, . .http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3278&item=3737475644&rd=1

I thought it might be a good idea to use to dampen some of the drum sound from echoeing throughtout the entire house, . .and maybe save me from getting divorced. :) Anyone ever use this stuff, or have any other cost effective ideas on what Imight use to keep the sound down to a low roar. . .

Thanks!

thats what i was thinking......i love my bed sheets...i can tie them all together and climb out of my window if theres a fire, they keep me warm at night, and i can hang them on the walls to soundproof my bedrooms studio.

say ........whats the polyester/cotton ratio on that blanket?

The funny thing is the pictures of all the studios there down at the bottom, are all copyrighted/not his. I recognize the middle one as Airborne Audio in the Kansas City area ( http://www.airborneaudio.com ). He just put the AM logo on there. And I doubt that Airborne Audio uses any of those to soundproof their rooms. lol

Good eye on the photo thing.
I think John Mayer, Third Eye blind and back street boys would have laughed at the blankets and found the nearest exit. Airborne does has a great facility as well as reputation.

take a look at the living room photo too...that has to be the ugliest acoustic treatment for a living room I've seen. I don't think your wife would approve of that...lol

Anyway, all kidding aside, I don't think we really have suggested/not suggested it. According to his site he had it acoustically tested by Steelcase Acoustical Laboratory, so it seems he's serious enough about these units. According to the tests it had an average NRC rating of .70 which I don't think is that bad. The range of decay continued up to 30dB with an initial decay of 10dB. However, it was only tested up to 5000Hz...what about 5000 on?? Also, he says it's .5" thick...however the report says it's .5 and 3/8" thick. By looking at the picture I'd say the trim of the blanket it .5" thick and the whole middle part is 3/8". Seems kinda thin. Overall I'd say it might be something to consider....better than nothing of course. At least you could put it over windows or doors and hope to get 30dB lower. This might make your wife a little happier. Good luck, and let us know if you try it.

whoa...one last thing i just saw...look at his feedback? He has a lot of positive feedback, however he adds replies to what people say about him. And he makes it sound like he was the buyer. Someone might say "Great fast shipping" and he replies "Acoustic blankets worked awesome!! A++!!" Kinda weird. But maybe a marketing technique more than anything.

If someone added that as a advertisement that would be stuck to my ebay stats, I would personally find him and burn his house down. Ain't no using me as a marketing tool. I am all for business, butI want the blanket free. Then I will give his product all the props he wants.

Nevermind.....thats just on his rankings. Not the buys stats.

Still...I would just double or triple layer the walls with blankets. That will do the same thing and give off a better vibe than looking like the inards of an asylum.

hahahahah...and that's exactly how that living room looks like in that pic

I use it

I have my drums set up in a home studio in the basement, but my wife
was really going crazy from the noise. I think she was going to leave
me. She bought me a couple sets of AudiMute after talking to the guy
who makes it. So it's not the best looking stuff, but for a home
studio or practice area it's great. It really cuts down the noise.
Look into it.

audimute

Just do an eBay search by seller for mitchz he has more of it

It's really a good product, I've had success with it
