I've heard mixed reviews on this sound card, and I was curious as to wether or not it was worth me checking out.
I'm in the process of building a home basement studio and I don't wanna get off to a bad start.
If this isn't a good sound card to have what are some good recommendations in the $200 dollar range (keep in mind I need something that I can hook my gear directly into asrx,mpc2000,mic,midi,etc...)

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 - $149

DO NOT BUY IT! It is for gamers and lamers. I wasted $200 on one, never got it to work properly. Bought an Audiophile and am yet to have a problem.

Ive owned the Audiophile 2496 about a year and a half- never had a problem- always reliable- only does 2 channels at once though- Ill be upgrading soon (prob. another- better M-Audio)- If you think about it though- If your doin rock the only thing you really NEED more than 2 for is drums- but you can get by with 2- we have

i have an audigy external card and its great for games and whatnot but its shit (pardon my french) for recording

No good. I have one, the mixer archetechture is crap.

You can't get off to a much worse start...... I know from experiance.

If I was starting out again I'd get a Delta 44, or the Audiophile 24/96, like Brzllian said. Although I would always go for the 44......

is this the same m audio that was being trashed in a prior thread?

hey audiophile users:

if you have 2 rca-1/4 adapters, and you connect each output from a audiobuddy to each input of the audiophile, then you'll record two seperate tracks, right? i mean if you play and sing at the same time. like you'll have your guitar wav and a seperate vocal wav, right? it won't be together?

i know that's a pretty dumb question, but just to clarify.

thanks!

one more thing, where did you guys buy your cables and adapters to go from an audiobuddy to a audiophile?
