My friend just set up a home studio, and to my dismay he went with a Audigy ls instead of the Audiophile like I suggested.

When he records in CEP, it only records in mono, and when I tried to set sonar up, It tells me that the soundcard only supports mono, or something similiar to that extent.

We are using the driver cd that came with the card...Any suggestions?

I also couldnt get ASIO4all to work with this card either..

i don't really have any suggestions to switch to stereo but...

what's so bad about recording in mono?? Unless you are using like 2 mics to record a guitar or you are recording drums or you have some special reason to record in stereo, mono will work fine. You would record, say several guitar tracks in mon, then pan each (one to the right and some to the left) to end up with a stereo track.

it just wastes resources to record in stereo if both sides are the same. There are obvioulsy exceptions so i would be interested to know what people use stereo recording for (as in what applications do you find recording in stereo to be an advantage over recordgin in mono?)

I'd do a search on that soundcard at this site and see what it pulls up. I thought there was a time that people were using a driver put out by a third party for their audigy's. This was a while ago, but anyhow the search won't hurt. Also, at a minimum, check at the manufacturer's website for an updated driver. Frequently, the driver that comes packaged with a product has been upgraded by the time the product is actually opened by the consumer.

If your soundcard can record two inputs at the same time, then you can record in stereo.
