Hello

I'm needing some help from someone who is familiar with
the Audigy 2 Platinum options. I've already decided to buy
this card but confused at the different disignations I'm getting
in the titles as follows:

Audigy 2 Platinum PCI

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro

Here is the home site link where they have the break down on the
different cards but I can't find where they explain the difference??
http://www.soundblaster.com/products/audigy2/

I am wanting the one with the front internal control panel not the EX. Is there just one are several options for the internal front drive. Also if someone knows a source for the best price on this card
please let me know. Thanks, Bob

I suggest you make a trip over to AVSforum.com if you want to get specifics on Creative cards.

My question is why? Are you planning to do DAW work?

ZS is their new Audigy 2 series (a few months old) with 7.1 surround and published with 108dB spec. Think of it as "Audigy 2.3 or something like that :).

I think the PRO always is an external (Platinum ex), haven't seen any other kind. According to measurements with f e rmaa this card comes "scaringly" close to semipro cards - even at 44.1 which was a real weak point earlier. There is some if's and but's about this and it's not really in the big race of semipro cards. But I think it actually might be worth checking out if you're into homerec as a side thing.

Platinum means there's a breakoutbox, internal or external.

Be aware that the general consensus seems to be that Creatives drivers, business practice and support sucks, before making a big jump check out their boards and newsgroups for track record.

You really should doublecheck my "info" though, I'm not really into Creatives products - but I like sound and soundcards so I keep an eye on them - because you never know. One day they might actually make it all the way, and not just say they do...
