Used to be>>>Edit> Preferences and then you could set audio device, track count, sample rate etc.
All different now so anyone talking a noob thru' it beware!

I found out because I have just bought a USB mic (ProSound, Maplins 40quid) as I thought it a bout time I tried one out.

Report soon but it looks pretty noisy compared to "decent" kit but might be good enough for "Tooob yakkin"!

USB mic? really? SHould have spent the money on lager instead! :drunk:

And while you're ditching the usb mic, you should move to Reaper too... :thumbs up:

Yeah well, don't drink. Doc said some years ago "give up the booze or die" I did the former.

We get SO many questions here about USB mics that I thought 40 quid would not be an unreasonable amount to pay for a new one . Since musician son left for La Belle France I fill my time tinkering and talking to you guys!

If son thinks he has a need I might ship the mic off to him in a month or so.

GOT Reaper! Bought and paid for. I only cite Audacity because I thought it the most likely DAW a noob would use with a USB mic?

I also have Cubases LE4,LE5 and LE6, Adobe 1.5 (use that quite a bit) but my fave' is Samplitude SE8 but also the Silver versions.

I also have Cakewalk Sonar X1 ess' but hate it so much I have not even put it on this new Asus build!
