Hey All,
Here's my situation. Using Audacity to record drum, guitar and vocal tracks. When I run a mic direct into my soundcard, it sounds pretty good, other than being very dry from no effects. I want to use our 12 channel SoundCraft mixer to loop through. When I come out of the mixer and into the soundcard I get a really annoying buzz. Any idea on how I can eliminate the buzz. I'm not using any type of USB interface.

Welcome to the boards. It appears that your issues are not with Audicity but with your recording chain. You leave out a lot of information from your post. With all due respect
I think what you need to do is read up on recording with a computer. There is a ton of great info on these boards. Just use the search function. Plenty of free info on the net too.

To answer your question of getting rid of the buzz with your mixer plugged into your soundcard. Most likely not. But for some small investments you can get yourself started with some wokable equipment.
Best of luck.

You need to either get a good interface to go into your PC or a good PCI card to hook your mixer up to go into your PC.

The BUZZ may be a ground loop. Make sure that EVERYTHING is plugged into the same wall socket.

Still using a built-in soundcard??

Unfortunately, those are made with less than $1 worth of chips for beeps, boops and light gaming (not to mention cheapness for the manufacturer) and NOT quality music production. Basically, they suck.

#1 Rule of Recording: You MUST replace the built-in soundcard.

Here's a good guide and suggestions: http://www.tweakheadz.com/soundcards_for_the_home_studio.htm

Thanks for all the good advice, I'll check out the article. This site kicks ass!!:)
