hi,

I've been using Audacity a basic sound recorder for quite a while now, but I figured it was time I try out the audio recording functions in Sony Vegas 6. I've been using it as a video editor for a while but haven't really explored the rest until recently.

For some reason though, Audacity has control over the recording level and source in Vegas. I can't seem to change the levels or source in Vegas, but if I alter them in Audacity, they change in Vegas.

I also tried a demo version of Adobe Audition and the same thing happened. I'm hoping there's an easy fix but I'm completely confused. Anybody got any ideas why one app has control of the audio in another?

thanks.

Are you using the built in soundcard (AC '97 or something like that)on the motherboard? I would guess that Audacity is controlling the windows mixer for the built-in sound, and then Vegas tries to record using the built-in sound, it uses the settings that are on the windows mixer. That's just my guess. But I really have no idea. :D
