Unless Im misunderstanding, I must beg to differ

I got this Myspace'd to me about two weeks ago. Didn't pay too much attention to it then, but since it's come back up, maybe I can contact someone to find out it's viability (unless someone else already has??)

Fam, you don't pay anything unless they choose your submission for inclusion on the mixtape. It costs nothing to submit.

I expressed in my email submission that I currently own the rights of use and performance for the submission. If they choose the song, then I'll have to pay to be on the project if I want it on there. Nothing to lose at all.

oh ok then you didn't lose out on the cash then good cuz 99% of the time when someone tells u to send them western union it's bogus , a guy tried doin that to me on e-bay for an mpc and i wasn't fallin for that 4 days later e-bay sent me an e-mail statin if i won anything from him not to pay him cuz it's fraud

i know this - the cats listed up there got some serious songs1!!!! (not persay lryical skill - but they definitely FIT what the labels n radio stations are pushin) in that regard, these songs are phuckin phire!!

all i know is 334MOB (from Alabama) has been signed to DEF JAM (if they still with them)for a minute a i still havent seen anything from them ....other then hearing they have a song on some mixtape

so nothing to worry about.

I have question:

Why is there a $300 fee if you are selected? I mean, they will obviously sell the mixtape for a profit, and they are prominent DJ's too! I just don't understand why you will pay to be on a mixtape that you have a project on. They'll obviously select you because you got some nice heat going, which to me will intesify the sale of the Mixtape.
The only way this makes sense is if it covers the cost of expenditures incurred in processin it, then I understand. The exposure would be great, but clarification would be even better!
If it's on the up and up, and it very much can be, then y'all should hop on it!

Good song for Submission Change! :D

Im with you on this one... 40,000 units goin to be in circulation at mininum $10 a peace..thats $400,000 total profit..on top of the $300 from each artist getting them spot..ie say about 20 artist.. thats an additional $6,000 for profit..and the artist seleceted gets 1 copy of the project..and see now return on his/her work.. damn atleast they can $0.09 mechanical license fee x 1 song on the album x 40,000 units manufactored = $3,600 to the artist for the placement...

thats only fair.. :D

As I understand it, it's a fee for replication costs. Pressing 40K units costs about $25,000. They won't sell as many of these units with a bunch of unknown artists on it, so they're distributing part of the replication fee accross the group of artists.

I'd be happy to get placement on a mixtape distributed to 40K people and downloaded even more than that online, for a mere $300. That's pennies compared to the possibility of broadening your fan base.

I mean, if I told you right now... Gimme $300 and I can guarentee that 40,000 people will hear your music and your name, and will be given details on how to find you online... Would you not do it? I would, in a heartbeat.

i understand where you coming from but..right now doin mixtapes is a gamble witht he RIAA and whoever raiding all MIXTAPE shops...its a change you have to talk now adays..even if they wrong or right about doin the raid..say you get on ot the spot..pay your money ..then BOOM!!! their raided..you have just lost your $300 and still no one didnt hear your music...do beleive they will sell 40,000 copies of it and maybe more.. the named DJ's have a big following...but you wont know how musch they sell cause most will be trunk/flea market sales...its just a gamble some have to be willing to take...and i remeber looking at all my mixtapes i have bought over the years..and no where in the credits does it give information on how to contact the artist featured...it only gives the name of the artist and maybe the producer name if not said in the song...

I submitted Gully and Menace song :D
