Hey, I just got my Delta 66 today. I wont get to play with it until I get off work, but I'm wondering if their is anything that I should know before I go and slap it into my computer. Maybe some trick or something or a bug that someone has dealt with before. Thanks!

Well, I didn't know the outs were mono instead of stereo. You have to use two outputs in order for stereo.

Good luck! Curious to see how it goes. Do you have another soundcard in the computer already? How about a UDMA66 controller?

I have a Delta 66, SB Live, and a Highpoint UDMA66 controller in my box and i have troubles. I'm suspecting the Highpoint controller.

Ok,installation went fine; no problem installing the drivers. However (we knew this was comming), I do have a SoundBlaster Live also installed and it seems that I have lost some of my (windows) sounds. Such as my popup menus don't make their sound anymore but when I start ICQ up I do get that fog horn sound, but when I get an ICQ message I don't get the notification sound. I haven't tried a cd or a game yet but they probably do work. I haven't tried the Delta 66 yet because I need more cables to run from the outs, so i'll have to wait until tomorrow for that. Anyone have any ideas about the sound? I think I have two PCI slots left, but I think that one of them are shared with something..

Ok, I got the cables so I can try it and see (or hear) if I get sound through the Delta 66. I'm not sure if I have the patchbay/router and the digital monitor mixer configured correctly, but I did set it up as the tutorial suggested. Any idea on why I can hear "some" sounds in windows but not all sounds? I checked the device manager and it shows no conflicts. I might try another PCI slot.

dabluesman,

I suspect the system sounds issue has to do with the fact that you now have two soundcards, and your system might be trying to use the Delta 66 card to play these waves. Check under Multimedia in the COntrol Panel.

I wouldn't mess around with trying other slots if the cards both seem to be making reasonable sounds in audio applications. The only clear problem I had with IRQs was when they both shared the same one and the SB emitted a weird sine-wave tone in place of WAV sounds and its MIDI synth emitted only very quiet, toy piano-type sounds. If they had different IRQs they work.

I checked the Multimedia in the COntrol Panel. This was the problem, I changed to the SB Live and now the windows sounds work. Now I cant get sound through the Delta 66. In Cool Edit Pro it has a VU meter that shows a signal going through the Delta 66 but I get no sound through the out put. I may have to check the patchbay/router settings to make sure I have the inputs 1 & 2 going through outputs 1 & 2..

dabluesman,

It's almost certainly the Delta Control Panel settings. I had to scratch my head for a few minutes there before I could hear anything either. The manual should make it clear.

Thanks for the info. I'll mess around with those settings and let you know happens.

Everything works! Thats not to bad, 3 days to get everything working right, for someone who has never done "PC" recording before and is just starting out. I tried it with my drum machine, I plugged it into inputs 1&2 and had outputs 1&2 going to my stereo system This worked fine, but I plugged in my guitar into input 3 and un-muted that channel, I noticed a weak signal through the VU-meter and I got no guitar through the speakers. Does anyone know how to set it to send inputs 1,2,3&4 to outputs 1&2? Or does it not work that way and I'd have to get a mixer or something to run all the outs into and run the mixer into speaker system? (i dont have monitors yet)
