If I was to buy some of those corner shaped bass traps (foam), how would I attach them to walls (without messing up walls of a rented house). Double-sided adhesive tape?

Agree with apl - One Real Trap in a corner will absorb more of the frequencies you want to control (and sound much better) than the four-piece Auralex Lenrd system.

The Auralex bass traps are so expensive!!! I urge you to not go that way.

But if you are set on Auralex, they sell a spray called something like "Foam Tac" that works really well. It takes a little while to dry, so don't test how well it's sticking for a few days.

Good looking out, thanks! But don't worry, I'm not really buying anything, just wondering.

RealTraps might be very good but beyond my reach (and not worth my priorities).

I liked the hooks, though, very easy to get and use. Thanks.

Like I just said in the other thread, people link to realtraps.com so you can learn about bass traps, not so much so you buy from them... although I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you did! :) But trust me, you can make your own traps for FAR less than if you bought them pre-built.

Yeah, I understand, I read their site. Good in general, but I'm just so hopeful that I can avoid hammering out these coffins all day long. I need something quicker, that's all.

Like if I can avoid using a saw and a hammer and stick with my favorite tool - the staple-gun and maybe glue or good ole' "duct-tape engineering" then I could probably go for it.

Anyway, just gathering the info for now.

Did you check out Ready Acoustics?

These are bags with the hanging straps already on the back. You just supply the core material ( or you can get from them already filled). All it takes is 1 hook to hold them up - should be relatively easy to patch later on.

Just a thought. I've had a few of my customers who want to DIY to a point but don't have the tools to do the woodworking go this way.

I have a question guys... Can i use a mattress cuted in triangles as corner (low freq.) absorber? A friend of mine is REAL sensitive to fiberglass and he prefers no to be close to bass traps of 703 or high density wool. I was thinking on cutting a couple mattress into triangles and covering them with burlap... (just for the Control Room)
What do u say? They have to absorb some freqs. for sure...

Then get RealTraps.

There was another thread recently about a cotton based material.

I don't know if it would work or not but cutting up a mattress seems like it would be a bitch! :D Just curious, how were you thinking of cutting the thing up?

Search around for rock wool / mineral wool. It has similar acoustic properties of 703 but it's not fiberglass. It also comes in rigid panels like 703. It's also quite a bit cheaper. Also, there was a thread on a material called Ultra Touch, which is'nt fiberglass and is supposed to give good performance in frequency absorption.
