Hi All,

As my Pulsar IIs no longer work for Drum OHs since one of them fails a breath test (and its not worth it for me to send away to fix since I got them for $100 each originally), I was looking to buy a new pair of OHs. I was looking at a new pair of Rode NT-5s which have been getting great reviews on here for that application, however I just found out that I can get a used pair of AT4033's from the studio that I work at for the same price ($400 total). I know what the AT4033's sound like as Overheads, but only though the use of the studio's pre's and converters which are waaaaay better than the equipment I have to record at my home. Has anyone used both of these types of mics through the same equipment that they can offer some insight on which is better?

Much appreciated in advance for the help!

I have a pair of 4033's and while I LOVE them, not as overheads. With some cymbals they can be strident. I have no experiene with the Rodes.

opposite answer, i have never used the 4033s for anything, but i've used the NT5s for years and loved them for OH and acoustic guitars.
