Bored of Canada
I'm looking for mics that I can use mainly for drum overheads; but also on vox, acoustics, bass, guitar cabs if I ever need to... pretty much your typical bedroom studio multi-purpose mic. I've narrowed it down to the Audio-Technica AT2020 and the Studio Projects B1 based on recommendations from users on this site as well as other reviews I've read.
Can you all help me decide which would work best for me?
The style of music in a nutshell is rock- powerful guitars, strong bass and drum presence.
I'm recording in a bedroom. I'm not really worried about picking up the amazing sound of my room, so... yeah. You guys know what I mean:p

I'll appreciate the help.

I think I'd say the SPB1. I've only heard/read good things about it. The AT2020 is a bit of a mix of good and bad reviews.

Try going up in the AT models, 40 series and look for them used on ebay/craigs list you'll be much happier.

i have both. can't really say that one is way better than the other.

I have some fairly expensive LDCs and I still reach for the B1s all the time.

go for the SP B1....Iv had both and the 2020 didnt stay around very long....I also agree with Moresound on the 40 series of AT mics...Iv had a 2020, a 3035, a 4040 and have used a 4050 a time or two and for not much more money...you can get WAY better quality than the 20 or 30 series mics.

Can't say anything about the 2020's cuz I've never tried em but have been using the B1's as OH's for a year or so now. I likes em just fine. ;)

I also tried em on acoustic but I like a pair of SDC's (ksm109's) better.

Haven't tried em on anything else come to think of it. :)
