Hey im new to this website and new to actually buying mics. I have been researching and ive narrowed it down to two mics the Audio Technica AT2020 and the Behringer C1U. I just need a good USB condenser mic for r&b singing that i will post on youtube. So give me your knowledge on which is better for r&b singing :) thanks in advance

In that price range the only USB mic I could recommend is the blue snowball. I have heard audio files of the aforementioned and compared to the blue mics they both sound very thin. If it was me I would forgo the USB mic and save and invest in an interface or mic pre and an sm58.

To be honest, I would never buy a USB mic.

I would get a USB adaptor such as the CEntrance MicPort Pro and plug the mic.of my choice into it.

If you insist between those two, I would go for an AT over a Behringer any day.

If you wanna do it right, get an maudio fastrack pro ($200) and at least an SM58 ($90) and for under $300 you'll have a nice little set up.

Anything less, it doesn't matter too much what mic you get.

As much as I agree that the SM58 is the microphone evryone should own, I also own the AT2020 USB, and it sounds warm and amazing

Like John Willet I would strongly recommend against a USB microphone. You need only do a bit of research in this forum to see how many people post with problems or regrets.

If the Fastrack that John recommended is too rich for your budget, even the very cheapest Behringer USB interface coupled with a conventional mic would be a better investment.

Of the two mics you list, I'd prefer the non-USB version of the AT2020.
