I live about a mile away from an insulation company. They do both residential and commercial installations. I think I can actually order it from them. There'd be no delivery charge since I could go pick it up :) I think I'm lucky though in this regard.

I got 8 panels of 4x8x2 inch from these guys delivered for less than $200. It was a year ago, so I don't remember how much less than 200 it was. You can find out on their web site.

If it doesn't have to be 703 you might have better luck getting Knauf. There is no sonic difference between rigid fiberglass of the same density. I use General Insulation which has location thoughout the country. A location near you may not have plain 2x4 or 4x8 in stock but ask them to have it trucked on the next warehouse delivery. You can find them on the web by doing a search. To compare specs on Knauf go to knauffiberglass.com and click on products/industrial and then select insulation boards. Scroll down and all the data in in table form on that page.

I have a question.

Has anyone here seen the fiberglass that goes inside of new furnaces?
Its about 3/4 to an inch think with a black finished type material on the back(feels like hardend wool), and the other side is a dense fiberglass.

My father is a heating and air installer and showed me that stuff the other day. He asked if it was the same stuff........... And not its not the foil backed softer duct wrap its more ridged and has a denser fiberglass than that.

He can get it for me if its the same stuff at a whole sale price.

Anyone? :)

Thanks!

Is there some type of alternative that Lowe's or Home Depot would have?
I kind of went a looked a long time ago, but didn't really know what to look for.

Thanks for the info znorton.
"university at vandalia" Thats east end of St.paul right? Sorry I'm sort of a rural boy, even though I use to work on Marshal and Snelling(AGB) I'm still lost when I'm up there. I will check them out for sure!

Hey Sloan A friend told me that Lows can get it or has it and to go to the contractors desk and ask for "Compressed R-45" I'm not sure of that but I'm going to find out.

Thanks all!

For general reflection and decay control, something like that can work OK (as long as the room can tolerate a bunch of HF only absorbtion). For broadband and bass duties, that's not the correct product - sorry.

No. Everything they stock is for putting in your attic. It is very basic sound control so as to not hear the guy snoring in the next room. You really have to get the semi rigid stuff at a insulation supplier. However, check out the Owens Corning site www.owenscorning.com. They have a search by ZIP code feature to find dealers near by. Here is a reputable online seller: http://sensiblesoundsolutions.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=29
