I have a 1642 vlz pro.

What;s the difference?

If I just had stereo inputs of 3 keyboards coming to channel 1-6, and was always going to start, stop and fade them together--would it be better(or more correct) to put them to L/R v/s subgrouping them?

Why/how should one subgroup channels and what happens to the main outs, and the CR outs when you do one v/s the other?

A pair (for stereo) of Subs is just like your bussing (routing) to the Main Mix.

As for the use of Subs, the most common use is for something like bussing all the drums to stereo for overall stereo compression on the entire drum set and/or to have an overall volume control of the entire drum set, and then you can buss the Subs to the Main Mix.

Now that you have the overall concept, just creatively think of all the various ways you can use Subs.

...And the block diagram is your friend. All is revealed there.:)
