ok say I have an 8 input mixer, but I need about 24 channels. If I bought a 24 input 8 bus mixer like this mackie here http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/634220/ I could run each subgroup as a track into the interface. My real question though is if this is the case how do I assign which track goes to which subgroup. Will there be a button on each track that says subgroup 1 or 2 or 3 or whatever or will i have to do somekind of cable patching thing. Also would the subgroups be able to have different numbers of inputs in them say 2 in one subgroup and 4 in another. I have used a few bigger mixers and some digital ones but I have never really had a need for anything with many outputs besides a stereo main and a headphone and a monitor/aux (rarely fx sends)so im not really sure how this is suposed to work

Each channel will have 4 buttons for the groups. Button 1 will be for group 1-2, button 2 for group 3-4 etc... When you depress the group assign button for group 3-4 on channel 1, than channel 1 will be routing through groups 3 and 4. If you pan channel 1 to the left, than it will go to buss 3 only (assuming no crosstalk). If you pan to the right, it will go to buss 4 only. If you pan only part way, it will show up as heavier on one buss than the other. Basically, the groups that you assign a channel or group of channels to becomealmostlike another stereo master in that the pan pot will feed the new busses differently based on its position.

oooohhhh ok gotcha yeah i saw one and it only had 4 buttons by the fader so i didnt really realize that. Thanks
