About 6 months back, we coordinated some help for music items in support of the troops in Iraq. Thanks to antichef and mshilarious and others, we were able to get a guitar amp, cables, bits and bobs out here to Fallujah.
I have been here in Fallujah since late May, and several things have happened to occasion another call for help for some specific items that are not readily available in theater.
1. We need an acoustic guitar with a working pickup/electronics system. When I arrived, there were three "functional" acoustic/electric guitars. All three are now toast - a very nice Ovation was dropped three weeks ago and the neck snapped off; the two others are completely shot electronically (as in ZERO signal being passed to the jack). In truth, they were very beat up to begin with. What we're looking for is something functional - doesn't need to be pretty or exceptional in any way - we just need something that can be jacked into an amp or into the PA.
2. Guitar/Bass straps - one by one they have disappeared, and now the chapel/MWR have only 2 straps total...and they're in sorry shape.
3. Guitar capo's - again, we had two - both have disappeared this summer.
If anyone can help - we'd be very grateful. I can put anyone in contact with the services director/lead chaplain here if you wish to help.
Again, thanks to everyone who helped out this past Spring - the guitar amp/cables/etc. are all still working well and they are used by different groups/efforts many times each and every day.
