ASCAP writer or producer?

Just wondering if anyone knew the benefits of applying to ASCAP as a producer. I am doing all of the recording myself, so I guess I am the producer. Is it just the same to sign up as a writer? Thanks for reading, and I appreciate the input!

I wouldn't bother signing with anyone until I had product to sell. If you want, you can be a "writer-producer". Everyone's a producer these days. Be different.

You can only sign up as a writer or a publisher.


If you are a producer, and you write songs - join as a writer.

Publishing is a different ball of wax.
