Hey guys,

im pretty excited as this is almost near completion and it will be the first project i have actually finished rather than scrapping half way thru!

pretty nervous to see what you have to say but please be honest!!

one problem i already know is i have horrible sounding crash cymbals... they are in the worst condition.. cracked.. pieces missing.. its not good..

any way i didnt upload the whole song as i need to retrack a few things at the end... the vocals need to be put in too.. i just threw a few lines in for good measure :)

so yeah, here it is :

Sounds good man...the vocals are not my type of thing however the recording sounds pretty awesome.

not my brand of music but, it sounds like it was recorded very well...congrats on a good job:D

I agree with david re the vox. Why not use a singing voice? The recording seems pretty good though the bass needs heaps of definition.
Pretty good given the genre limitations ( I loath super multiple bass drum kicks).

Hehe people dont like metalcore here hey! Thanks for the comments tho guys! How could i give the cars some definition? Higher freq boosts?

Disclaimer: I'm listening on headphones.

Ok, I don't know the song, so I went to the band's myspace and listened to the original for comparison. Very tight recording on your part. And the vocals are fine -- your screaming sounds a little more Pantera than AILD to me, but it works fine. Certainly better than I would be able to pull off. There's something about the vocals that's not quite sitting right in the mix, to me. Either they're a tiny bit too loud, or the lower mids need to be scooped out a bit. I'd also consider putting a small amount of fuzz on them. Also, it sounds like your drums are clipping a little bit; some of the kicks sound a little bit fuzzed up somehow. That could just be the conversion to mp3, though.

i'm loving your vocals actually. it's not overdone. the kick drum doesn't sound quite right to me, and the snare could use more crack and maybe a slight reverb.

listening to new small computer speakers first thing I can say is the voice isn't really sitting with the rest of the tracks. Do a pass between 100-350hz with a narrow q and high gain to find the frequency that's muffling up the vocal, and cut it.

Yea, wat i did with the kick was to use some andy sneap kick sample and use drumagog. Mixed in about 50% with my kick. Dont like the sample too much but havnt had time to make my own sample. The snare is the best sound ive managed to get frm my snare. Hate my snare.. But i sampled my snare using 3 mics. One top one bottom and one marshal mxl 604 overhead. Also it has a shitload of reverb on it but it seems to get lost when i mixdown

instead of sampling your kick, grab a nice 32-band eq plugin, dump the mids, and give the highs a good boost. go through all the bands until you start to find the click, and boost those. maybe boost the low end a bit too.

the snare is still pretty odd though. it could use a little midrange to help fill it out a little bit, and come up in the mix a bit.

the guitars need to come up as well. they're a bit buried under that kick drum.

Like the choon, like the singing too!

I'd say get a more fitting kick drum to match the kit, bring the kit up a bit to mix with that. Snare needs more definition too and need to come up. toms down a bit and you'll be set. love the guitar sound!

on my speakers its sounding a little flat ...but maybe for radio thats good....iron maiden were my local band and they have a lot to answer for.....i was pissing myself then and x ammount of years later you have brought me back......acctually vocals aside its quite well produced ...

if you want a real scream.....you need to find some overwight 40 year old alcaholic who has really lost it all....teeny boppers cant match that....they just sound like they have some flem that they are trying to expel.

oh and toooooooo long ...if it was la villa i would say fair enough...but this??

hey i think you did a pretty good job..i was just wondering..how did you mic up the bass drum?..i kinda like the sound...

oh no i really thought that you recorded that..well it sounds good anyway and being a pretty big as i lay dying fan myself i think you did a good job...maybe work the vocals a little...(not the screaming but the mixing and effects on it..)

Yea i used a sneap kick sample mixed in 50 percent with my kick. As far as the vocals go yea they were pretty rough. Just grabbed an audix I5 n just compressed it. Wanna find a decent mic that will work with the screaming but not make it sound awkward in the mix. Thanks for all the comments tho guys! Really appreciate it especially as this is my first semi completed song ive done
