Arturia MiniFuse vs Volt 276

Hi all,

Hobbyist, time for a new interface. I like both of these two.

  • Volt is twice as much but has the "cool" :) preamps etc
  • Minifuse has good software package but I own most of it already

Any opinions ?

I have a Minifuse 2 coming in the next week (I hope) and will be able to give you some hands on then. I am buying it primarily FOR the software package for my son.

TBQH before those two interfaces hit the pages of SoS I was all set to get a MOTU M4 in the new year. Might still as well, have to see how the lekky bills pan out!

The compressor on the Volt is not anything like a 76 other than it compresses and it’s fast. I really hate that they say it’s “based on a 76” in some places and straight up call it a 76 in others. But it can certainly be useful. Compressors are useful.

AFAICS the original (not valve) 1176 compressor was a "feedback FET" design and made extensive use of audio transformers and used a single ended (which HAS to be Class A FCS!) output stage. They were, it is said "fast".

I suspect the Volt statement of a "76 compressor" is more due to the adpuff dept who bandy such bollocks as "true class A" and "Tuneful British EQ" !!
