I think it was eddie who wondered why ART doesn't make a mixer. I wondered too, and when I wondered out loud to ART, they sent me this reply. I find the bit at the end interesting as well:

Thanks for the question. While we once manufactured
two mixers in the late 80's called the "Phantom Series" mixers,
ART has changed its product focus to Tube Dynamics
Products that are used in Professional Recording and
Live Sound. These products include a full range of
Tube Mic Pre Amps, Tube Compressors, and Tube EQ's.
We believe this is where we are strongest in the market.

We currently have no plans to release any more mixers.
However, you can certainly compliment any mixer with
ART gear.

ART will continue to deliver more products in the home
and professional recording markets. We are introducing
products that can cater to those in digital and computer-based
environments starting with the DI/O, our first D->A, A-D converter
for $249 in April.

An ART soundcard for $249? Do you think it uses tubes? :)

Our store had an ART mixer used for around 400. I think it was either 16x8 or 20x8. Either way, i remember it being a very nice mixer. Although, it did take up lots of rack spaces.

So if their focus is mainly on tubes, does anyone here have an ART MR-1. (known to many as Mr. Reverb). It is in the same shape (funny round box thingy) as the MP-1. Does that reverb have tubes? I wouldn't think so, but I know they still make that box. If you are looking for a great reverb unit for around 100$ it is hard to beat that one as well. Anyway,I don't really think it has tubes, but I could be wrong.

Mike, even if somebody has one, nobody's going to admit to having a 'Mr Reverb'. :)

Hi, kids! Now just hook up Mr Compressor to your signal path, and all your home recording worries and problems will be a thing of the immediate past! Vapor! And if that doesn't do the trick, then reach for Mr Tube A. Preamp - he'll help you out for darn sure.

I'm starting to think the reason ART don't want to make a tube mixer is because they can make more dosh selling duals. Also, I'm not sure if I was born with a suspicious nature, or whether it just grew on me...
