Hi, I have an ART Tube MP and I'd like to know if I can use it for 2 mics? I am recording a classical guitar with 2 mics but I'm not sure if the 2 inputs in the back are two different inputs or to use only one at a time.
Thanks for any help.

Ok...

I was afraid it was like that. So that preamp is only for one mic then. What do I need to be able to use two mics at the same time?
Thank you so much

Incase you couldn't understand Chess' cryptic reply, the answer is no. I there is only one input and one output. I think the "2 inputs" you're talking about are the balanced and unbalanced inputs (XLR and 1/4"). You can only use one at a time. Sorry.

For two mics check out M-audio's DMP-3.

It's clear now

If it's any help, I forgot to add that I'm recording in my bedroom with a PC and an M Audio Delta 44.
Thanks again!

If I am understanding you right, I think you need a mixer with 2 mic inputs.

You'll need two ART Tube MPs (they're single channel preamps) to use two mics at the same time.

Or, if you haven't bought the Tube MP yet, you could buy an M-Audio AudioBuddy for around $75, which is a basic two channel preamp. I wouldn't recommend the AudioBuddy if you're planning to use it for power vocals or percussion, but it should have enough headroom for acoustic guitar.

If you plan to record vocals, percussion, or anything else that's got a huge dynamic range later on, the M-Audio DMP3 two channel mic preamp (around $150) is a really clean preamp, with plenty of headroom.
