Damn.

Has anyone seen this? It's just like the Tube MP single channel, but it has an analog VU meter and built-in output control. Looks really really nifty and is supposed to retail for $159, which means that it will probably be available for the same price as the regular MP.

I saw it in this month's HomeRecording magazine...but can't find it anywhere else...not even at ART's website!

Slack-
I was at Mars tonight and saw them. They were like $10 more than the regular tubemp. They have nifty packaging to make people think they're VERY professional!

The thing supposedly has a limiter circut, the extra button turns it on and off. That and the VU meter are the only differences. My MP has found it's way on my pedal board as direct box for my acoustic electric, it dosen't get much use in my studio rack. I may pick up the "studio" version so's I can have a nifty little VU meter dancing at my feet. :D

Well my point is that I wish this had been available when I bought mine. I would've spent an extra 20-30 bucks for a VU meter!

Check the presonus Blue Tube in the same price range for a slightly superior product.ART QC has somewhat of a shaky reputation (I own an MP1)and presonus are former Nasa subcontractors with a tad better QC.
To me ,the tube MP has a bit of grit in the sound.

Well

I don't really know myself, but I have heard many say they feel the QC is not that great either.

Also, tht "grit" is usually pretty well associated with tube preamps.
