What do you guys recommend for recording bass to soundcard?
To compliment my Sansamp bass DI, I am looking into the ART MP and the ART Levelar compression unit. Oh, I am also looking at the audio buddy for its dual preamp features.
Can some kind soul tell me if the ART Levelar performs the duties of preamp as well as compression???

Thanks,
Trevor

No it's just a compressor. However, it surely might do well with the bass driver without bothering with the Tube MP.

I wonder if you might have read a post by me some time ago where I said that the bass driver doesn't put out enough "juice." That's not technically true, it does put out a line level signal.

What I meant is that I wasn't terribly impressed by its sound alone, and running it into my ART pre really beefs it up IMO. Also it can draw phantom power from the ART which is much nicer than using batteries (I think its sound deteriorates as the battery weakens).

Do you have the bass driver yet? If not, then wait until you get it before you think about fooling around with preamps and the like.

I use the Levelar, but I get better results using my GK200 bass amp's preamp along with it.
