Anyone got an opinion on these power conditioners?....I wanna get a couple of these (or something else if these are shit) one reson for protection and another as it seems the power suplly (Soundtracs GRID) for my Solitaire is very sensitive to varying currents......

The SP4x4 is not a power conditioner, it's a power distributor. Basically a rack mounted power strip. It won't do anything to help with varying currents. For that you need a power conditioner, which is a lot more expensive! :-)

Ok....I read on a retail site that the ART's were actually power conditioners, glad I didn't buy one....Thanks, what suggestions are there then?....

FROM THE RETAIL SITE....

****Built into the PS 4x4 is a surge and spike protection system, designed to protect powered equipment from harmful electric surges and spikes. The unit also has RFI and EMI filtering, a 15 amp breaker, and a total power capacity of 1800 watts.****

Is that not what I'm looking for?...Sorry, I'm fairly new to power doobiehackies.....

They are describing surge protection and filtering, not power conditioning. It's still a good thing to have those features, but you mentioned about having gear that is sensitive to current fluctuations, and a surge protector won't help with that.

I just did a little research and I see what you are talking about now. Sometimes units like the aRT or the Furman PL's are referred to as power conditioners. So I guess the term is used rather loosely.

What you need for your Solitaire problem though is what's called a voltage regulator. That's different (and a lot more expensive!). Here's an example of a voltage regulator:

Units like the ART don't do anything to the power itself other than filter it for RFI and EMI and protect against spikes. As far as sags and cleaning up the power signal itself, it won't do anything.
