I want to invest in a mesa boogie, but i have some questions,
any mesa experts PLEASE help me out!

(1) i know the difference in the singal, dual and triple recs (1,2,3 channels) but is it really nessasary to have 3, im into experimental rock so im looking for something versatile,

(2) Do you know what tubes to put in for better distortion warmness and clarity?

(3) can you reccomend some speaker to get for my cabinet and were I can pick up an empty cabinet also?

THANX AHEAD OF TIME!

Really neccesary to have 3 what? Rectifier tubes? 3 amps? Channels? I have one of the new 3 channel duals... if you are doing rock, with a band, get no less than the dual or you wont have enough juice. I hate having a 50 watt in a live band situation.
The manuals are downloadable, and have information about changing tubes for different sounds. They have an auto bias switch so you can swap diff power tubes around.
As for cabs, I prefer nice smooth sounding Vintage 30's. Dont skimp here, get the V 30's or better. Smoother top, not as brittle as most. Sounds more "album-like". YMMV.

Three channels are definitely a must, to me that is one of the things that makes a mesa a mesa. I think a dual rec is plenty, in any situation where you could legally use the full volume of a triple rectifier you would be miked and it wouldnt matter anyway. A marshall 1960A has always been a standard for me, but I really never experimented with much else, so try the amp through a couple of cabinets before buying one.

1- the triple is 150 watts -you could play out without being miked(lol) plenty of power.
2-check out el34 if your into rock. I like 6L6
groove tubes.
3. i also fond of a marshall 1960.
look into either the vintage 30's or something with green backs(if you whant it to break up more)
you never stated the "type of musick" you play. that would help.

celestion speakers

How much do celstion 30s cost new? what are prolly the best speakers to get for a nice warm clarity distortion?

what about tubes?

K, when reading your original post, I got the impression that you thought a single was head, 1 channel....dual was a 2 channel head.....No

The single is STILL a 2 channel 50 watt head.
The new duals and triples are 3 channel heads, the dual being 100watts, and the triple being 150watts.

The duals and triples sound virtually the same tonally, however, the dual seems to wimp out at stage volume on the low end of things where as the triple keeps putting out the bass. I guess it all depends on what 'stage volume' is to you though right. I went for the triple cause it was like 200bux more only. I find this to be the best head ever.

Speakers. I got a mesa 4x12 loaded with custom 90's at no extra cost. They feel/sound alot better to me anyways. They can handle more power and respond faster---feels anyways. It seems that they are fuller as well.

Tubes....It's hard to find a set of 6 matched tubes. EL34's are supposed to be better for rock/country. I use the 6l6's. Hope this helps. Can't give you a price cause I don't know where you live. :)
