Bruce, how would you describe the quality of the Events, seen as a budget active nearfield? Does it carry enough bass for heavy metal and rock? I don't need to go as low as you'd have to, when mixing dance music, but I think down to 35-45 Hz would do the trick for me, wouldn't it?

The Events are very decent nearfields -- freq. response is very wide, and bass output is good (on the PS6s and PS8s -- the PS5s, not so much!)
My only complaint about the Events is that they can be a little too forgiving sometimes on certain material. It's not a serious issue, but just like any monitor - they have a learning curve to them!
I still highly recommend them as monitors.... I definitely prefer them to the Behringer Truths...

but blue bear, i know that you are a trusted member of this forum, and i will consider your answer to this question very seriously...
i am a high school student with limited monatary resources. I have struggled enough to get what i have presently, and i know that the speakers i have are letting me down. Will the behringers help me to produce mixes that translate well? And, would you recommend them to someone who has enough money to buy the behringers and nothing else?

Given that really ANY monitor can be used after a person learns them, the answer is yes.... The question then becomes how much effort is involved in "learning them." The less the monitors do for you, the more time you have to spend learning them.lucid said:

Event 20/20s
I am using EVen 20/20s and one thing I like about them is that for the most part, what I hear on the mix is the way it generally is in truth. After I transfer to another set of speakers the mix is relatively intact. In other words, the bass is where I left it, the drums, the vocals etc. After all is said and done, this, to me, is a good quality for near field monitors.
This monitor issue is so much a matter of personal taste that comparisons are, for the most part, useless. NOBODY can say which speaker is better. If you like it and your mixes come out good, than that is all that counts.

that's what sound on sound said about the truth monitor. i think i'm gonna get a pair. i did a mix 2 days a go on the mackies. to me the krk and the behringers have a better sounding bass to them.(ported design vs sealed)

They can be difficult to get hold of in the UK, but give their distributors a call (handinhand distribution) -- they should be able to help.
The 2020bas will be about 650 give or take. I'm told they are WELL worth the money.
