I seldom see reviews on these Behringer preamps. Does anyone have info on them? Are they comparable to Mackies?

I Had A Behringer T1953 Once!

Bought it for something like $389 new from AMS. Changed the tubes to Mullard CV4004s and whoala, a nice filler pre; not at all anything to write home about, but added a nice character for a VERY nice price! Ended-up selling it a little bit ago; as you all know I'm selling things off left and right for other stuff I want, BUT, it was one of the things I sort of wish I could have kept!

I have a behringer 2200 and the presonus mp20. At first i could not hear any difference at all between the two, which was kind of a surprise. I did some quick and dirty vocals and some trumpet and percussion playing. after level matching it sounded so similar that i could not pick one out without checking the file names. Then I recorded a classical concert in a theatre and started to understand why the mp20 costs a bit more. And of course, the build quality is a big difference, too.
Anyway, if you are recording something without high transients i think the behringer is a steal. And the LEDs behind the "valve" give it such a "WARM" shimmer if you switch off the lights in your studio....

PS what i also like about the behringer is that somehow detects the operating level of the recorders input and self adjusts to either -10dbv or +4 dbu
