Are TDK SMx that much better than SM?

Hello Folks,

This has probably been asked a bagillion times but, are smx that much better than sm? The reason I ask is because I live in a technologiclly impaired area and I have to order everything, but I found a local shop that carries sm. I tried to get the guy to order me some smx, but no dice.

The SMx will take a hotter signal and give you extended frequency response(so TDK claims). If you can't find them locally, order them online.
