are all Boogies created equally (distortion-wise)?

For the Boogie users out there, I'd like to know whether you think the same level of preamp overdrive is offered across the product line (except of course for the few models without a dirty channel). Can a Nomad scream like a dual rectum-fryer? Is the rocket series even in the same ball park? I know there are obvious differences in voicing, features and wattage, but I'd like to know whether Boogie strives to achieve a certain standard in this area across the board.

Thanks for your opinions

I used to own a Mark 2B 100 watt combo, now I have a Nomad 45 2x12.I would say that there ARE appreciable differences in both the quantity and quality of distortion across the Boogie line of products, and that the reason they make so many models and that those models have so many knobs is to allow for people finding their own unique nuance of tone."Scream" is a relative term.I feel my Nomad can be made to fit quite squarely in the window of what I define "screaming" as,but I am also aware that there are those for whom too much is never enough.Cheers!

If the sound you want is the bone crushing raw distortion i.e. Korn, godsmack, Limp Bizkit, etc... the rectifier series is all that will satisfy you, if metallica, dream theatre, megadeth is your thing mark series is your best bet... But the marshall jcm 2000 dsl, and tsl amplifiers will give the mesa's a run for they're money, Carvin amps sound awesome as well, if you want the ultimate, i suggest the randall warhead.

Mesa Engineering actually approach different amps with VERY differently. I only know this because I've done a lot of reading at mesabogie.com.

I bought a Mark IV, took it to rehearsal and was back at the store an hour later trading it for a Recto, not because it was no good, but because it wasn't what I was looking for. The Recto doesn't sound ANYTHING like the Mark series.

By the way, Rectifiers aren't actually considered "Boogies" at all. They're technically "Mesa Rectifiers"...they don't say Boogie on them anywhere (which I think just says that they're a really different animal than they've ever made before.)
