Are all Allen & Heath boards the same?

Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question, but I'm thinking of upgrading from a Makie to an A&H board. I know that there are a few different classes (GL, Mix Wiz., etc.). Do they all have the same type of pres, just different bells and whistles otherwise? Are the 16:2 and 12:2 basically the same with just different configurations?

Not a stupid question at all...

I own the A&H MixWizard 14:4:2 and I think it is a great board. I would consider trading it for your Mackie...and your house!

Seriously, IMHO the A&H stuff blows the Mackie stuff away.

Anyway, when I was in the market for a board and I had narrowed it down to 3, one of the things that clinched it for me was when I was told my an engineer at A&H that the pres in the MixWizard boards were the same as the ones in the GL2200 series.

All of the MixWizards are "basically" the same. However, a couple of the models include built in Lexicon effects (I just don't remember which models they are...)

Hope this helps...
