Apple USB keyboard

Good afternoon - my name is Anthony and I'm a novice. I have this question that's been neme for the last 2 weeks or so. So I recently upgraded via craigslist with a Mac tower, Mac USB keyboard, and a track pad from amazon. The problem is that I use pro tools extensively and for some reason the USB keybaord does not work.!!! I mean it doesn't read none of the protocols commands for the keyboard . Like the space bar + the apple sign will start it to record or something simple like. My keyboard is non responsive!!! Really need to find a waay to fix this problem can't wok efficiently

If you got the keyboard used, it could have some bad keys or have had spill damage. Google "wash Apple keyboard".
