Ok dual 1.42gHz w/ hyperthreading. Better DDR333 RAM, L3 cache... the numbers are still not Wintel in that Intel is bouncing around the 3 gHz marker, but I think that Apple have finally decided to step up to the plate for once. And the best thing is...

They lowered their fucking prices finally!!!!!

Those flat panel displays are now within affordable range. The powermacs themselves have taken a price cut. Still expensive, but at least Apple is acknowleging where their weakness is and trying to change.

I for one am happy!
 
I'll be happy when DP3 and all my other apps can run on one. The new macs ship only wih Jaguar & cannot run OS9.x. Makes me think I should start using Logic since it's apple's software now. Unfortunately, I think Logic is gonna get reduced to the audio/midi version of apple's iMovie and die on the professional end. Glad macs finally have a faster front cache...

lowered their prices?

These computers start at $1999! Looks like they raised their prices to me. I don't know who's making marketing decisions at Apple, but I think the days of $2000 entry-level computers are over.
