apogee!?!?!

I was wondering if a/d convertors are like sondcards. I was thinking of getting a emu 120m, but i heard apogee a/d convertors are really nice and would do the same thing a sound card would do. I need to hook my keyboard, monitors and avalon 737 mic pre into the computer to use with cubase. would an apogee a/d convertor let me do this like a soundcard would.

A soundcard HAS converters - Generally, cheaper, somewhat noisier converters than most stand-alone units.

You'd still need an interface of some sort - S/PDIF, AES/EBU, etc.

My main system doesn't have a sound card - It does have a digital interface that connects to my converters.

That 'splaines it for you?
