Aphex 207 preamp

Anyone had any experience with one of these mic pre's??? They gave it a very good review in Mix mag. but I get a little nervous of those reviews as I wonder if the Mag. just does not want to lose advertising $$$$$$$. Ya know...bad review means no adverts anymore.

I think a lot of gear gets a good review these days because most of it is good. Magazines also like to review the "good stuff" to alert their readers to a great new piece, especially if it's from a company with an already strong reputation.

The Aphex 207 looked like it's got a lot of features but is lacking in knobs.

Although mine is headed for e-bay in the near future,
the Aphex 107 is a very nice sounding dual mic pre.
The 207 is a further refinement along with more bells and whistles. In the $400 and under range, however, I'd just get two
Studio Projects VTB-1's and call it a day. (I've got one)
