i am looking for an entry level mic that is fairly capable of recording vocals. the 2 that i have been looking at are the apex 410 and the audio technica 3035. does anyone have any experience with these mics in terms of reliability, sound etc.the price difference is about 50.00, but the apex comes with a hard case and a shock mount, its also the lower priced of the two.any info on these 2 specific mics would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

:D I use several different types of AT mic's, haven't used the 3035, but I realy can rely AT's to deliver every time.

i really like my 3035's..........the only other experience i have with mics is with mics that are cheaper though...

i've used my 3035's for toms, bass drum, overheads, guitar, and vocals.......i liked them on all of them.

i used the apex 410 and it was very decent, Do it all kind of mic. I did a side by side comparison with a Neuman TLM 103 and they were almost identicle in sound except that the neuman had a bit more high end sheen and more information and detail. It was a bit of a strain to hear the difference, but i'm sure you'd hear it prominantly over a large number of tracks.

I can't compare it to an AT 3035 unfortunatly. Is there anyway you can get a hold of both of them and try them out?

I have the AT3035. A good mic in many applacations but vocals are not one of them. If you can get your hands on a used AT4033 for a few dollars more than the 3035 you will be much happier.
Can't help you with apex other mic.

thanks for the info. L+M rents both mics, i'll try them in the next couple of weeks.
