Anyone using S3 with SampleTank 2?

Hey all-
My partner and have put together a little home recording studio. We were using Sonar 2.2 XL with SampleTank 1. Well, both products were updated, and we upgraded to Sonar 3 Producer and SampleTank 2 respectively. SampleTank 1 worked fine in Sonar 3 - a little slow to load samples at times, but pretty solid. Well, with SampleTank 2, there seems to be some kind of MIDI problem - primarily dropped noted, stuck notes and glitches of that sort. Are there some particular MIDI settings we should look for in Sonar 3?

Hopefully someone here is using this combo. Thought I'd try here before submitting and awaiting a response from tech. support - that and I don't know for sure which app is causing the trouble.

The system:
Asus A7V8X-X with VIA KT400 chipset
Athlon XP2100+
512 Megs DDR Ram
Echo Gina 24 sound with latest drivers

Thanks!

Warren

P.S. I'm aware of the VSampler, but we have a few Sonic Reality sample discs with samples specifically for SampleTank.

Well, I think SONAR 3 took more CPU power than 2, specialy with DXi which opens large audio samples. I'm not sure 100%, but I have IK Sample Tank lite (came with Delta 1010LT card I just bought), and it works fine in Sonar 3. Maybe you need to tweak the buffer...

In SONAR, go Options --> Global --> MIDI tab, and raise playback buffer to 1500ms or so (default is 500). It may even hit 4000ms on particular setup.

Hope it helps,
;)

Jaymz,

Thanks for the input. Man, had that buffer up to about 4000ms and still having the same trouble. I imagined that both apps now use more CPU and Ram, but this is weird. I'll see if anyone else posts, and I guess will have to contact support : (

For MIDI, I'm using a MOTU MicroLite USB.

To all who read this:

The problems I am having stem from a buggy DXI version of SampleTank. When using the VST version via the VST wrapper, all works well - just as ST version 1 did. It is the first implementation of the DXI version, so I imagine some bugs are still hanging out.

Regards,

Warren
