NT and 2000 are true 32 bit operating systems. Allthough cakewalk is very stable under 9X, I still prefer 2000. I seem to be able to use more plug ins before a drop out occurs, and 64K clusters on the Hard disk gives me well over 100 16/44.1 tracks. (But I use 24/48 more often maxing out around 64 tracks w/FX)
Big problem with 2000 (and NT for that matter) is drivers. WDM is supposed to be comming along to solve all theses issues but not as of yet. Only 1 out 3 Ews88mts that i use can be used under NT or 2000, Same goes for people uses multicard setups with delta 1010s. ICE rep told me that they are developing WDM that will allow multicard operation.
So I have to run normally under 98SE "Chubby: Lite" I get plenty of performance and full access to 30 I/Os
