hi all, i read a reveiw in an old audio mag. and was wondering if anyone has tried this mastering software? sounds like qaomething that would work for me if it works the way its marketed
I've been using T-Racks for 3 years, and I like it a lot. It pretty much does what it's supposed to do. I especially like the multi-band limiter. It can raise the volume level of your tracks without sounding artificial. There are other more expensive programs out there that will do a fine job, but with T-Racks you get a lot of bang for the bucks.

The above comments about mastering is certainly true. If you have the bucks, there are better programs with more control than T-Racks. But, it is difficult to master on your own, especially if you don't have good monitors. In fact, with more controls, comes the opportunity to screw things up. We home recordists don't usually have the opportunity to let the "record company" take care of things for us. While T-Racks isn't the most comprehensive mastering software, it is elegant in its simplicity. I disagree with the comment that it doesn't add life to your tracks. The EQ section works quite well and is one of the better components of T-Racks. Just use it judiciously. It does a more than adequate job of warming up tracks, providing punch, and adding sparkle to mp3 files for internet publishing. I've been using this software for 3 years, as well as others, and it has served me well. I'm not trying to spam here, but if you want to hear examples of T-Racks go to www.wifemusic.com to hear what I'm talking about.

I've used it many times. I don't like it AT ALL. There are many products out there that do a much better job (the Waves stuff, O Zone to name just a couple). Just my humble opinion. YMMV.
I've used T-RackS, and I must say it does a fair job for "basic" mastering. It seems to produce better results with some material than other, which would indicate that it's not as flexible as it ideally should be.
As mentioned before, there are better programs/plug-ins for mastering, but T-RackS will certainly get you started without blowing your entire Christmas budget.
Personally, I'm partial to Wavelab with the Waves mastering plug-ins.
