i got the trial version of this program. and i think it is pretty cool. its nothing compared to protools, but it only costs like 300 bucks for the actual program, so its alot cheaper than protools.

i used to use cool edit pro 2.0, which is the old name for audition before it was bought out by adobe. it is a cool program, i still use the wave editing features of it. For 300 bucks though, i think cakewalk home studio smokes it.

I use Audition, and it does well, but I got it mainly because all the other trial programs had limitations that wouldn't let you save your work, so I bought Adobe. I have no experience with other good programs, just Cakewalk Pyro, and Cakewalk Music Creator, which work, but don't have much for tools. It does accept most VST plugins, and they are way better than the plugins that come with the program. Not many other people use it, and it may be because of what minofifa says.

I also have AA (version 1.5) I like it. For me it had a short learning curve and is easier to use.

However I've heard others praise Cubase. I recently got LE edition with the firepod. I understand how it works but I guess I'm so used to Audition I've never really used it.

For me it's easy to make loops, track, punch in and etc. I don't mind the plug ins that come with it though I usually have to tweek them a bit.

The advantage that Adobe Audition has over Pro Tools is that you don't have to buy a bunch of proprietory hardware to run it.

My philosophy is, get a good software program, learn it inside & out, and you'll be able to more than some other program you don't understand, regardless of the relative features.

i don't know....i used Cool Edit Pro for the first time a few weeks ago when helping someone set up a little home studio. i knew i might have a tough time with the program since I had never seen it before, but i really felt like it wasn't logically laid out at all. i was confused in why it seemed like they didn't make the program work like an analog console in regards to signal flow and the naming of certain things...the sort of work that companies who create Pro Tools or Nuendo put into their programs so that the transfer from the analog world to the DAW world is logical. I find a lot of the more inexpensive programs are like this.

From most observations I have made from the bbs here and the internet in general, most people use Audition/CE more than any other program (not pros, but overall).

As far as what benny said, most people who have used hardware setups don't like the workspace in AA/CE, but for the others (like myself) who haven't much experience in the analog/hardware world, AA/CE is much easier/quicker to use.

I have tried alot of software and I would say ce/aa is pretty easy to get started with and has plenty of good features if you don't need vst's. the included plugins are'nt the greatest but if you play with them, they are usable. I would'nt use anything else I have tried for wav editing.

Looks like more people use Adobe than I thought. I stand corrected.

I use Cool Edit Pro 2.0 till this day. I love it, and I hope adobe does the line right, because I really really really don't want to use anything else. Hope that helps... lol
