I just checked out the Taylor (http://216.120.92.69/guitars/features/expression.html) site, and it looks like they've got some new acoustic electric system. I was just wondering if anyone has used it and how it sounds. I know every acoustic electric I've ever played sounds like complete crap when you plug it in...

Let me know...

I have a Taylor but it ain't got no pick ups in it. I'd be interested in the same question though.

Thanks for the pdf, but has anyone actually tried this new system instead of just read about it? how does it sound? Is it that new that no one's tried it yet?

Yes, some of these guys have, especially recently at NAMM. Try this link and be sure and read the posts on page 2 as well.

This is the system that Rupert Neve has been working on and talking about.

For those of you guitar players who don't recognize the name Neve, see the "rack" forum above :)

I posed this question way back when it just came out and no one seemed to have tried it. Since a little time past, any reviews out there? Is it as sweet as they make it sound?

The ES system has had very mixed reviews on the Taylor Forum. I haven't tried it and I'm not in the market for something like that, but I was very surprised by how many people didn't like the ES.

I bought the DVD "David Gilmour-Live in Concert". They are playing some Taylor's (it's mostly an acoustic concert) and they sound great......really great.

Hey thanks!

Maybe I'm slow or something...where is that Taylor Forum you speak of? I looked through the Taylor site and this site and turned up nothing...

Thanks!

I've played a couple guitars with the new ES system....a 514ce and 714 ce if memory serves me right....while it sounds quite incredible...i didnt notice to much of a difference between it and the fishman blender system they used before the ES system. On the other hand, i believe Taylor prides itself on the live, stage application of the system which could be a big leap forward in the amplification of acoustic-electrics

I like mine just fine!

I just bought a new Taylor 714ce w/ the expression system. I think it sounds really good through my mixer and the Mackie monitors. The biggest reason I liked it more than the Fishman is that it dosen't cut a huge chunk of wood out of the side of the guitar - just three little holes for the control knob shafts. I don't perform much live, so I can't comment on feedback issues with the magnetic mikes, but that is a potential issue some on the Taylor forum have been griping about. Overall, though, my impression of the Taylor forum has been favorable toward the expression. BTW, I LOVE my new 714ce- miked through a matched 603 pair, with a little espression blended in is home studio nirvana.
