Anyone tried/reviewed that new Focusrite Voicemaster Pro yet?

I'm very curious what this thing will do.

The original Voicemaster was loved and hated. The Pro is improved... that could mean improved 'love & hate' or more love...

It does *look* cool, I can tell you that.

I think SOS or EQ had a review of it last month. I am not positive though. Pretend I am more helpful than I really am. We will both do better.

Says it has the same preamp. Why bother with that when there is the RNP around the block?

Tube, I already have a DMP-3 around to serve all my 'clean 2 channel mic pre'-purposes.
I'm in the market for a mono channelstrip and want to know how this new Voicemaster Pro would stack up against, say a Joemeek VC1Qcs or a TL Audio 5051...

I'm not totally sure but I think that in The Netherlands the VC6Q is still available for €349,-. Wouldn't that be an option?

My review: "Smooth but with an elegant sheen. A hint of exotic dark coloration - well rounded, firm..."

Oops! I thought you were looking for a review of Speed's avatar!

I have both the Meek VC6Q and the original voicemaster. Some people describe the voicemaster as sterile and clinical... which in a way is what I like about it. In terms of functionality and sheer kg per dollar the voicemater is better value by far... but the meek has a special sound that makes up for it's lack of features, in particular the EQ. If you already have a 'clean' pre I'd go for the meek. As always try and listen to the gear at home if possible before buying to see what suits you... either under hire or under their returns policy.

I can't imagine Voicemaster Pro will sound radically different to the original Voicemaster. But the tweaks look pritty useful.
