Anyone tried or know about the M-Audio Studiophile SP5B powered monitors?

I just saw them in the Musician's Friend catalog for USD300 a pair. Seems like a very low price for a pair of powered monitors. Apparently, these powered monitors are a new product.

Can anyone point me to any info/review about these? Does anyone have any personal experiences with these monitors and/or other M Audio products? How are they? Would you recommend them?

Thanks in advance for the info!

Cheers,
Jack

Got em!

Jack:

I just picked up a pair of the M-Audio Studiophile SP-5B monitors today for $300 USD. I was mixing/monitoring my home rec system through good quality PC speakers until now. I can say the sound of these monitors is very nice. Plenty of low end and what I would consider an "accurate" sound. Obviously, they are not on par with monitors that cost $800 for a pair, but for the serious home studio user on a budget, they are a great choice. Go demo them! I'm glad I bought them..

Yo Dark & Jack:

You can do just as well with the Yorkville YSM-1 monitors. And, they don't cost very much but they do the job.

Verily, there are better monitors; spend and receive. But, for the dollars, it's pretty hard to beat the YSM-1 non-powered monitors.

Oh, I don't sell them or work for the company. I'm just a seeker of good sound for a reasonable cost or, maybe, a little more than reasonable.

Im a big fan of M-Audio's products, but I remain a little optimistic about this monitor....im anxious to listen to it.......

Hey Jack,

I just dropped a new thread for recommendations for sutdio monitors, then I saw yours. I also use a PC. How are you planning on hooking the reference monitors up to your system for mixing? I am trying to think of the best way that I should do it. Thanks Mate.

If they are active monitors (Poewered) just go from the line out of the soundcard to the amps input........

Check thanks, doe sthat you give you an accurante representation of the sound? Thanks again.

Get the JBL's, the LSR25P is a great little monitor.

I also like M-Audio stuff but this is their first attempt at a monitor and they will almost inevitably have made some errors, the whole swivelling tweeter idea has me a little worried.
