Anyone still use Acid Pro?

I still prefer to edit loops in Acid Pro. I have an old PC running windows XP and a echo Layla interface and I still use this computer to edit drum and rhythm track loops. It’s so much more intuitive and faster for me than Ableton or Protools and once I’ve done my edit I can fly it into a Protools session to finish it off.
I can edit loops super fast with an old version of Wavlab.

It bummed me out when Sonic Foundry sold out to Sony and then Sony ran it off the rails.

What kind of setup are you using it with?
Gotta laugh just went down to studio for a look and I’m actually using acid home studio duh…..
I’m just doing basic mixing. All of our songs are constructed starting with a scratch track then we just keep overdubbing better takes until we’re satisfied enough.
Check out my song Complications in the mp3 mixing thread( don’t no how to attach a link) for a listen of my typical results

BT,
It's easy to add a link to a previous post. Just go to the post, copy the URL and paste it into your message. You can also hit the little chain icon, add the URL and some text to describe what it is.

Here;s your MP3 from your message:

I dont see to many Acid Pro users. I have Acid Pro 11 and use it mainly to record VO demos and play around with the wav files to make different types of songs. Hopefully I can pick up some tricks from you guys who have used it on much more consistent basis.

I think I have acid pro 7? It’s on an old HP computer running windows XP. I’ve edited a million loops and created lots of loop based music using Acid. It’s still faster and more intuitive than Ableton, Logic, or anything else I’ve been using. I can edit loops out of wav files super fast in Wavlab. I still mix through a console in a hybrid fashion and I still use this computer like a stereo mixdown deck sometimes.

Yes I saw you posted. I believe thats the version I started with almost 20 some years ago. ACID is really the only one Ive used. I tried REASON but seemed complicated for me way back when. Ive also played around with MPC beats but havent done much with that DAW. Im curious to learn how you created your loops as its crossed my mind to do that and perhaps maybe use that as a source of revenue as well.

I’ve written a bunch of music that began as a long improvised guitar piece that is just me playing whatever I’m feeling at the moment. I’ll play for about 5-10 minutes. Then I go back and start editing out loops and put those in a folder. I use Wavlab for this, but I think it’s pretty easy on any wav editing software to do this. Wavlab and acid both allow you to manipulate the loop in many ways, such as change pitch, reverse, add effects, etc. I will add these manipulated loops into the same master folder. This folder is also where I keep the acid project file. Keeping all the loops and the project file in the same folder makes things go a lot smoother. I keep entire projects with the loops and burn them onto a CD and save those for my backup.

I’ve taken a live drummer and created a loop library of his drums and I’ve made thousands of loops from guitars, basses, random noises, etc.

The two tracks were both done in acid. In the first track, All the sounds other than the drum kit are guitar loops which have been manipulated.

On the Patient Extension 9 the entire rhythm track was built from loops in acid.View attachment excedrin headache number 5 02.mp3View attachment the patient extension 9 2020 rough mix 01_the patient 2020 rough mix 01_r1_session.mp3

Patient Extension 9 reminds me of an old 80/90s girl group called Veruca Salt. Like the ending of it. Obviously I want to get the point where I can do the same but with me laying my down my own guitar tracks. Have to get up to speed with the guitar. Many years since I played so need time to start practicing again. Appreciate you sharing . Gives me ideas of how to expand from here. Thanks!
