Have been looking around and am keen to get my bands EP onto iTunes, Amazon etc.

CDbaby seem ok but take a percentage of sales.
Tunecore seem good but dont cover many stores.

www.dittomusic.com are distributing to iTunes and Spotify ( anyone using this??? ) free of charge and cover 700 stores in total.

Have heard good things about all of them, swaying in the favour of Ditto, mainly because they work with Spotify.
Just want to see what experience anyone else has

Something I was looking at for distributing CD's

You just upload your master to them, design your CD cover artwork etc...then display your sales link on your website/MySpace or wherever. If someone wants to buy it, they deal directly with the company's(automated service) and the CD is shipped out to them and you get the sale minus $1.75 per CD which pays for everything.

Anyway...here's a link to their FAQ's page:-

Mart.

Tunecore has worked for me! We're not making millions (more like nearly a couple hundo), but it's more than if we didn't work with 'em. Their tools are easy, and they get you into the major stores that people know about. Sure there are 2,000,000,000 other online stores out there, but everyone knows about and has access to iTunes and Amazon (and eMusic, and Napster, and Rhapsody).

Just my $0.02

Tunecore!

Along with steve i use tunecore and i cannot give it praise enough. It is very cheap to put songs on almost all digital download sites. A single is only $9.99 to go on all platforms which in my opinion is amazing. When we first put our EP on itunes we had a problem of being combined with another band. We emailed them and they replied within a day and the problem was sorted in a week. Their staff are helpful and friendly and they really believe in what theyre doing. They also often have offers on so it would be an idea to register and they'll email you whenever they have offers. There was an offer on and we only had to pay £12 to put a 4 track ep on iTunes UK, US, Canada, Japan and Napster. If you want to sell music online in my opinion Tunecore is the only way to do it.
They also take no percentage per sale! so there is only a one of fee to get it up there.

Sounds like an ad for them. You don't work for ditto, do you?

I've used cdbaby for 2 years. I like the service and its always easy to talk to a real person there if you have any problems. What I don't like is that they wont split payment between members, but I'm not aware of any other site that does. I also just set up an account with www.putiton.com cause they don't take a commission. Here's the link to my music: http://www.putiton.com/item/543

Thanks,

Been looking at this myself, and the thing that bothers me about Tunecore is if you upload a single or album, you pay an annual $9.99 fee for that single or album each year. That's in addition to the upfront fee AND a cut of sales. Seems excessive to me.

I prefer CD Baby's model, but at the moment it's limited to albums only. There really needs to be an option for singles.

Just discovered bandcamp.com. Anyone have experience with them?

That's what I thought.

Any time I see a user's first post with a link to a product or service and positive comments about it I suspect the same thing.

CDBaby have some pretty excellent customer service for both the artist and the buyer.
Tunecore and CDbaby will both get your tracks into the digital stores and CDBaby also will sell and distribute physical CDs for you.
I think the trick is to estimate how many copies of your record you think you will sell to get the best for your money, as the 2 sites have different commission schemes.

If you just want to offer downloads from your site, I've been impressed with bandcamp.
