nope, not until now...

What would be the benifit of having a tube in a ribbon mic? I'd love it if someone posted a review/comparison of all these Nady Tube mics...something with a few soundclips and a nice graph with comparison facts...

Probably some of Nady's customers of their first ribbon mics found their pres didn't have enough gain. The tube solves that problem, and let's not forget about "warmth".

Speaking of this, and ALL those Nady ribbon and tube mics...has any one used one? I'd hate to find out in 3 years that one of these "newb" mics is a diamond in the rough. Anyone want to admit to using one that was good?

I've used various Nady mics. Here's my rundown.

Model: Nady DM-90
Genre: Kick drum (dynamic)
Comments: Dull, lifeless sound. Really unimpressed.

Model: Nady CM-90
Genre: Pencil SDC (FET)
Comments: Fairly neutral, not a lot of noise, a little brittle sounding, work fairly well for drum overheads.

Model: RSM-2
Genre: Ribbon (dynamic)
Comments: I like. Nice, open sound (though I'm told it's a bit more open if you remove some of the foam). Works very well for tenor voice and instruments. A little harsh on trumpet.

But no, I've never tried any of their tube mics.

Well, I was researching ribbons and ran across some stuff from ozraves.

He said he is liking the SE Electronics R1........but was interested in testing the Groove Tubes VELO-8.

The GT V8 is about $400 bucks cheaper than the R1, I'm kinda interested also, just because I've kinda started liking GT stuff in general.......

Anybody know anything about the V8??

And it's nice to hear a favorable response regarding the Nady RSM-2, that one caught my curiosity earlier today as well.....

I have a DM-90...out of curiosity I paired it with my beta 52 to see the difference, and yes, it was EXTREMELY unimpressive!.

I also have 2 CM-88's...I still use them as over heads. I have said in other posts that they are shit, but they have actually grown on me a lot. I've heard better, but not bad as cymbal mics, but definatly too bright to not close mic the toms when using them.

anyone used the trm-6

haven't been able to find any reviews of the nady trm-6 tube ribbon (or rsm-5)
