I get glitchy and skippy playback when I run ck pro 9 on win xp when I try to record 8 tracks at once. I'm trying to do a process of elimination here of weather to blame cakewalk or my sound card for not being up to par with win xp, so if I could get good feed back on ckpro9 running smoothly on xp running 8 tracks at once, that would help oin point my problem more.........this woould be so helpful becasue a computer show is leaving town tomorrow and i might need to get a good deal on some software or hardware if I could get some input on this problem....
Someone said I might need to upgrade to sonar?

From what I've read, you will need to upgrade to Sonar. Lot's of people are running Sonar on Win XP.

from what you've read????

Where have you read that we need to upgrade cakewalkpro9 to Sonar on win xp???? Is that a secret they're all keeping from us???? So they can get more money out of us or ebarrased from their mistakes????
Still, is there anyone out there running cakewalk pro 9 smoothly on win xp with 8 tracks at going at once????

It is just a waste to use XP with PA9. PA is an old, discontinued product that has been replaced by Sonar. PA9 can't make use of the enhanced performance you get with XP since PA9 doesn't use of WDM drivers. PA9 talks to your hardware through MME drivers instead.

Its more a question of why would you want to run PA9 in XP, not whether if you can.

Well thanx there BrZ

Thnx for the reply. That helped so much. I'm a gonna up grade to SOnar

You know, I get just a little irritated when people ask for help, and then get irate because they don't like the answer.

If you even bothered to check out the Cakewalk web site, there is a feature comparison chart that compares PA9 and Sonar. The first entry is "platforms supported" which states

PA9 = Win 95, 98 and NT
Sonar = Win 98, ME, 2000 and XP

http://www.cakewalk.com/sonar/SRvsPA.html

Is that clear enough?

Well thanx Datcha2nrt, that you know me so well

you assumed that i was being a smart allic by asking where someone read that pro9 is no good on XP. Excuse me for being careful, but some people in this forum sometimes say things in assumption, so we all must be careful of the info we get. THat is all i was trying to do, is be careful, but thanx for your giving me the specifics of what cakewalk has to say about it all. Pardon me for being human and sometimes ignorant, but it is wise to be careful and for that, no one should ever be criticised.
