Anyone NOT like the UAD-1 Plug-Ins?

When I got my UAD-1 card I really liked the 1176SE and let the demo period run out for the 1176LN. After learning more about compression I contacted UA about allowing another demo period, which they did no problem.
A simple A/B test between the SE and LN made my credit card jump out of my wallet faster than Shaun Alexander scrambling for the end zone. If course, it did take some education before I was able to hear it.
That's just my 2bits worth, YMMV.
 
Oh you guys! Don't do this to me! I'm opening a studio next month and spending all my extra money on cables, stands and snakes.... so, I really can't afford this right now.

I bet I can put it off a month. (I think I can, I think I can...)

every dollar you spend on cables is worth at least 1000 dollars spent on software, so dont worry too much

My problem is that i only do acoustic music (piano, guit, vocals, strings). I have this idea that many of the plug-ins really can do it on drums and base, and big mixes, but aren't worth the cash for me... anyway...What are some of the more expensive counterparts to the UAD-1? (if you're on laptop) How do they compare?
 
The URS eq's are wonderful sounding!

The Sonalksis stuff is very good.

PSP stuff is pretty damn good.

The KJAERHUS Audio stuff is great.

Voxengo is really good.

Lot's of pretty good stuff out there.

There is some stuff I have tried out that doesn't have proper GUI's yet that is astounding! http://magnus.smartelectronix.com/

By the way, Magnus made a reverb, Ambience, that is freaky awesome!

Lot's of good stuff out there. I like the UAD stuff a LOT, but there is some really good other stuff out there.
